Exciting news for all our members! We have the opportunity to place a show at the Boone County Historical Society starting in April! This will be great exposure not only for our group but also for all our artist members.
This will be a juried show so all work must be submitted to Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance, 115 E Broadway, Ashland, MO no later than April 8, 2017. You may submit as many pieces as you like. All 2D pieces must be properly framed or mounted AND wired for hanging. NO sawtooth hangers will be accepted. 3D work is also being accepted, pedestals will be provided. All work must be tagged with artist contact information and numbered to match the list that each artist will include with their submissions. The following information will be needed: Piece #, Title, Medium, Price. In addition to this list each artist will need to submit a brief bio or artist statement to be displayed with their work. Boone Co. Historical Society will take care of printing display cards and artist statements. Each artist will have their own section within the display hall.
Work does not have to be for sale but if it is Boone County Historical Society will retain a 35% commission on each sale and Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance will retain a 5% commission. 60% of the purchase price will be given to the artist so be sure to price accordingly.
This is a very large venue to fill so we need all artists to seriously think about participating. We will be getting exposure to a much larger community, we have plans in the works to appear on Pepper and Friends and will be in contact with the area print publications to help promote the show. Not to mention blasting away on Facebook!
Below is a link to the website for forms that you can download and fill out for your submission. One is the art list and one is the entry form with a place for you to fill out an artist statement. Or you can stop by the Art Center and pick up the printed forms.
There are more details to report, like when is the reception, actual dates of show, etc. I will keep everyone updated as things are finalized. Please don't hesitate to call or email with any questions!
Looking forward to seeing your submissions!

Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance would like to send out a huge THANK YOU to our community. Your support and generosity this last year has been tremendous to say the very least. And a big shout out to the So. Boone Chamber of Commerce for selecting our organization as Rookie of the Year. We are deeply honored!
So here's what you have helped us accomplish in 2016:
First and foremost we were able to open a community art center in Ashland one year earlier than we planned, due to generous donations and a very willing landlady that helped us get started. Thanks, Kay! After a whirlwind of scrubbing, painting, installing (and eating a fair share of dog hairs) the Gallery and Art Center opened in April.
We launched an After School Art Program and Summer Art Camp with the help of local SOBOCO teacher Meagan Cooper (we love you!). We had a participation of over 50 kids! We have had numerous adult classes in painting, pottery, and mosaics. And our Sunday Fundays have been very popular, proving that there is an artist inside everyone! We hosted our first Plein Air Workshop with mid-Missouri award-winning painter Lorrain McFarland. And we awarded another $500 scholarship to a So. Boone High School student who is currently pursuing a BFA.
We have 10-12 local artist that regularly display work in our sales gallery and we've sold over $3,000.00 in original art so far this year. Three artist currently use our studio spaces. We hosted our first 5K Walk/Run and our membership bas has expanded from 13 to 50.
There are lots of fun plans for 2017. We are expanding our class offerings to include a day class starting in February. Sunday Fundays are shaping up to be even more fun with "Happy Trees" (painting Bob Ross style), "The Art of Making Penny Rugs" (an old Colonial style rug making), "Fanciful Flamingos" and much more. We are starting a mentoring/resident artist program for local students and will be offering after school workshops monthly in alliance with the YMCA's After School Program. We are also hosting Community Art Nights on Wednesday evenings, which is an open studio/social art kind of thing.
As a non-profit organization, our mission is on bringing a wide variety of art opportunities to our community. And we do this all with volunteers, which is amazing. But we still need your support to help these programs grow. So don't stop being the generous, supportive and wonderful community that you have shown yourselves to be. We love all of you!
On behalf of a wonderful and dedicated board of directors, thanks!
Tracy Eichhorn, Board President
Are you looking for a fun family event this Saturday, June 11th? Join us in Ashland for an old-fashioned, small town festival! Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance will be conducting our first photo scavenger hunt. Drop by the MMAA booth at the Ashland City Park any time after 9:00AM and pick up your entry form. It will have a list of items for you to photograph, and then post on the event’s Facebook page by 4:00PM that day. Entries will be judged for creativity, not speed…so take your time and enjoy the process!
While you are at our booth in the park, take a few minutes and make a lemon-stamped greeting card to take with you to remember the day.
From 4:00PM – 8:00PM we will also be offering hot dogs, Lemonade ShakeUps, chips and more for sale under our canopy on Redbud Street, next to the Old Town Jail. For more information about Mid-Missouri’s Arts Alliance’s festival activities, please watch our Facebook page.
Drawing lays the foundation for almost all visual art forms. If you enjoy art, but would like some help getting started in creating your own, then our Beginning Drawing class is for you. A basic drawing class is helpful for more experienced artists too…there is always something new to learn. The six-session class will meet on Monday evenings, beginning June 20, 2016, from 7:00PM to 9:00PM at the Art Center in Ashland. The class will be taught by Linda Pluschke, and award-winning artist who works in watercolors, oils, printmaking and more. Click the button below for more information, a supply list, and to register for the class.
