2pm to 4pm
This two hour workshop offers the basics in creating a 6" stained glass mosaic tile using the direct method. You will use stained glass pieces to play with color and design to create a piece which can be used either as a tabletop trivet or to hang on the wall. You will glue stained glass pieces to a ceramic tile using appropriate adhesive and can learn the basics of scoring and cutting glass, should you want to cut glass pieces to fit into your design. Grouting and sealing will be done by the instructor after the workshop and your piece will be returned to the Art Center for you to pick up. Fee includes all materials. Mary Kate Protzman will be your instructor and her bio is below.
Mary Kate Protzman has been using stained glass to make mosaic art since 1998. She has taught others to do the same since the early-2000's. Besides this art medium, she also makes her own botanical inks (even growing some of the ink-making plants in her garden!) to use in painting and is happy about being able to produce art that is more environmentally friendly.
